Starting Your Free Trial

How to Start

  1. Go to SurveyMethods Pricing
  2. Click Start Free Trial on Advanced or Professional
  3. Create your account (or log in if you have one)
  4. Your 7-day trial begins immediately

Eligibility

Free trials are available to:

  • New SurveyMethods users
  • Existing Basic (free) plan users
  • Users who haven’t had a trial in the past 12 months

Note: Only one trial per account is allowed. Previous paid subscribers are not eligible for a new trial.

During Your Trial

What You Can Do

  • Create unlimited surveys
  • Use all question types
  • Set up skip logic and branching
  • Send email invitations
  • Customize branding
  • Export responses
  • Use AI features

Trial Dashboard

You’ll see a trial indicator showing:

  • Days remaining
  • Current plan being trialed
  • Option to subscribe

Collecting Responses

Responses collected during your trial:

  • Count toward your trial limit (500 or 750)
  • Are kept if you subscribe
  • Are kept (up to 100) if you downgrade to Basic

When Your Trial Ends

Without Subscribing

If you don’t subscribe by the end of day 7:

  1. Account downgrades to Basic (Free)
  2. Your data is preserved:
    • Surveys remain (first 3 are active, rest are archived)
    • Responses are kept (first 100 remain accessible)
  3. Premium features are disabled:
    • Skip logic stops executing (but is saved)
    • Email collector is disabled
    • Custom branding reverts to default

With Subscribing

If you subscribe before or when the trial ends:

  1. Seamless transition to your paid plan
  2. All data and surveys continue uninterrupted
  3. No gap in service - features keep working
  4. First billing occurs on subscription date

Converting to Paid

Subscribe During Trial

  1. Go to Account Settings > Billing
  2. Click Subscribe Now
  3. Choose your billing cycle (monthly or annual)
  4. Enter payment details
  5. Click Start Subscription

Your paid subscription begins immediately, and the trial ends.

Subscribe After Trial

If your trial has ended:

  1. Log in to your account (still accessible)
  2. Go to Account Settings > Billing
  3. Click Upgrade
  4. Select your plan and complete payment

All your trial work is restored to full functionality.

    • Create a test survey

  2. Day 3-4: Build

    • Create your real survey
    • Add custom branding
    • Configure email collector

  3. Day 5-6: Test

    • Preview your survey
    • Send test invitations
    • Review the experience

  4. Day 7: Decide

    • Evaluate if the plan meets your needs
    • Subscribe or download your work

Tips

  • Don’t wait - Start creating surveys on day 1
  • Test all features - Try skip logic, email invites, exports
  • Collect real data - Run a pilot survey if possible
  • Export results - Download any data before trial ends (just in case)

Extending Your Trial

Standard Policy

Trials are 7 days and generally cannot be extended.

Exceptions

We may offer extensions for:

  • Technical issues during your trial
  • Enterprise evaluation needs
  • Educational institutions

Contact support@surveymethods.com to request an extension.

Switching Trial Plans

Can I Switch?

If you started an Advanced trial but want to try Professional:

  1. Contact support within the trial period
  2. We can switch your trial to the other plan
  3. The 7-day clock continues from your original start

Why Switch?

Consider switching to Professional if you need:

  • Response quality (AI)
  • Ask AI for insights
  • API access for integrations
  • Scheduled email reminders
  • Higher response limits

Common Questions

Do I need a credit card to start?

No. You can start a trial without any payment information.

What happens to my surveys if I don’t subscribe?

They’re preserved but archived. You keep access to your Basic account with limited features.

Can I trial both plans?

No, but you can switch once during your trial. Contact support to change plans.

Is there a trial for Team plans?

Team plan trials are available on request. Contact sales@surveymethods.com for a team evaluation.

Will I be automatically charged?

Only if you enter payment details and explicitly subscribe. We never auto-charge without your consent.

Can I use the trial for a real project?

Absolutely! Many customers run actual surveys during their trial. Responses are kept if you subscribe.
