Name Question
The Name question type is designed specifically for collecting respondent names. It can be configured as a single field or split into first and last name components.

Adding a Name Question
- Click Add Question in the Survey Editor
- Select Name from the question types
- Enter your question text (e.g., “What is your name?”)
- Configure the field options
- Set whether the question is required
Configuration Options
Field Format
Choose how to collect the name:

Field Labels
Customize the placeholder text or labels for each field:
- First Name

- Title/Prefix (Mr., Mrs., Ms., Dr., etc.)
Validation
- Required - Make the question mandatory
- Minimum length - Set minimum characters required
- Maximum length - Limit the number of characters
Best Practices
- Keep it simple - Only ask for first and last name unless you need more
- Consider privacy - Explain why you need their name if it’s not obvious
- Make it optional - Unless identification is essential, allow anonymous responses
- Use placeholders - Show example text like “John” and “Smith” in the fields

Responses are stored with clear field separation:
- Full name responses are stored as entered
- Split fields are stored separately for easy sorting and personalization
