Distribute with a QR Code

A QR code turns your survey link into something people can scan with a phone camera. It is a great fit for print materials, signage, and in-person events where typing a URL is impractical.

Before You Start

SurveyMethods does not generate QR codes for you inside the app. Instead, you create a Web Link collector, copy its URL, and turn that URL into a QR code using any QR code generator. Because the QR code simply encodes your link, it keeps working as long as the collector stays open.

  1. Open your survey and go to the Collect tab.
  2. Choose Web Link and create a new collector (or open an existing one).
  3. Click Copy next to the survey URL.

Your link looks like https://.../r/ABC123. For full details on web link collectors, custom nicknames, and opening or closing them, see Web Link Distribution.

  1. Open any QR code generator (many free web and mobile tools exist).
  2. Paste your copied survey URL.
  3. Download the QR code image, ideally as a high-resolution PNG or SVG for print.

Tips

  • Keep the collector open while the QR code is in circulation, or scans will lead to a closed survey.
  • Print the code large enough to scan from a comfortable distance.
  • Add a short prompt like “Scan to share your feedback” so people know what to expect.
  • Use a separate web link collector per campaign if you want to compare response volume across placements.

Once responses arrive, head to Analyzing Survey Results to review them.
