The SurveyMethods REST API

We recently launched the first version of the SurveyMethods REST API. Using our survey API, you can easily integrate third party applications like CRM, HR, or other applications with SurveyMethods. Our API makes it possible for your system to communicate with SurveyMethods without having to login to the SurveyMethods website.

The SurveyMethods API : Adheres to REST guidelines, and has been developed in accordance with industry best practices. Allows third party applications to interact with SurveyMethods using HTTP methods. Generates output in both JSON and XML formats.

Transmits all data over SSL. The API is accessed via the https://api.surveymethods.com sub-domain.

Getting started with our API is easy: You must have an account with SurveyMethods. Our survey API is available to all users irrespective of their package type (Basic, Advanced, Professional, and Enterprise). You will need an API key.

To get the key, login to your SurveyMethods account, and go to the API tab in the "My Account" section. Read our REST API documentation to help you get started, and for detailed information on the API library.

We have already released two dozen APIs, and are continuously adding new ones to create an endless variety of integration possibilities. Here are some of the activities the current set of APIs can accomplish: Launch a survey remotely Retrieve survey deployment and responses dashboard statistics Launch a survey using the web deployment method Resend your survey link to your email invitees Retrieve the status (completed/partial/opted-out) for a response Retrieve the response summary (custom field labels and values, date when the survey was begun and completed, the response method, etc.) of all individual responses Copy a survey, and change important settings of your survey (SSL and survey attempt settings)
