Exporting to Excel, Word & PowerPoint
Turn your survey results into Office-friendly files you can share with stakeholders or dig into further. This guide covers where to export from and which format to choose.
Opening the export dialog
- Open your survey and go to the Analyze section.
- In the toolbar, click Export… and choose Export Summary or Export All Responses.
- The Export Survey Data dialog opens.
The dialog has two tabs so you can switch what gets exported:
- Summary — aggregated results per question, with charts and percentages.
- All Response data — the raw dataset, one row per respondent.
Choosing a format
Pick a format using the File format buttons, then set a File name and click Export.
| Format | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| XLS (Excel) | Analysis in spreadsheets | Downloads as a .zip containing .xlsx files, with charts built in |
| PPT (PowerPoint) | Presenting to stakeholders | Available on the Summary tab only |
| CSV | Importing into other tools | Downloads as a .zip; universal, smallest size |
| A print-ready, shareable report | Choose a Paper Size (Letter, Legal, or A4) |
Excel summaries include a column chart (or NPS/sentiment breakdown where applicable) alongside the response counts, so the workbook is ready to read without extra formatting.
A note on Word
SurveyMethods does not currently produce a native Word (.docx) file. For a document-style report you can share or print, export to PDF — it is formatted, page-sized, and opens anywhere. You can also open a PDF or Excel export in Word if you need to edit the content.
Access
Exporting requires the data export permission on your plan. If you see Upgrade to Export instead of the export options, ask your account owner or upgrade your plan to enable it.
For more on reading your results before you export, see Analyzing Survey Results, and for a full rundown of every format see Exporting Survey Data.
