Exporting Reports to PDF

A PDF export gives you a clean, print-ready copy of your survey report that you can save, print, or share with people who don’t have a SurveyMethods account.

Creating a PDF Export

  1. Open your survey and go to the Analyze view
  2. In the left menu, click Export
  3. Click New export to open the Export Survey Data dialog
  4. Choose what to include using the tabs at the top:
    • Summary - the aggregated report with charts and statistics
    • All Response data - every individual response, one after another
  5. Under File format, select PDF
  6. Pick a Paper Size and, if you like, change the File name
  7. Click Export

Paper Size Options

The paper size only appears when PDF is selected.

Downloading Your Export

Exports are generated in the background, so the dialog closes right away. Your new file appears in the Exports panel with a spinner while it’s being prepared. Once it’s ready, the spinner turns into a download arrow - click the entry to download the PDF.

The finished PDF includes your survey title in the header and page numbers in the footer, so it’s ready to print or send on as-is.

Summary vs. All Responses

Use the Summary PDF when you want a high-level report to present or share. Use the All Response data PDF when you need a record of each respondent’s individual answers. Note that the PowerPoint (PPT) format is only offered for Summary reports; PDF is available for both.

Good to Know

  • Data export requires a plan that includes exporting. If you don’t have it, the Exports panel will prompt you to upgrade.
  • To narrow down what appears in the report before exporting, apply rules and question filters first - see Analyzing Survey Results.
  • Prefer raw data for spreadsheets? See Exporting Survey Data for Excel and CSV options.
