Save & Resume

For longer surveys, respondents may not have time to finish in one sitting. Save & Resume lets them save their answers partway through and return later using a personal link, without losing any progress.

Turning It On

Save & Resume is controlled by a single setting in the survey editor:

  1. Open your survey in the editor.
  2. Go to the Options panel.
  3. Find the Save and Resume row and switch the toggle to ON.

That’s it. The setting applies to the whole survey, so every respondent taking it will have the option available.

How It Works for Respondents

When Save & Resume is enabled, a Save & Resume button appears at the bottom of each survey page, next to the usual navigation buttons.

When a respondent clicks Save & Resume, their answers so far are saved and a unique resume link is displayed under the heading “Save and resume later.” A copy button places the link on their clipboard so they can store it somewhere safe.

To continue, the respondent simply opens that link. The survey reopens with their previous answers intact, and they can pick up where they left off.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • The resume link is personal to that respondent’s in-progress response. Anyone with the link can continue that response, so respondents should keep it private.
  • Respondents are responsible for saving their own link. It is shown on screen for them to copy rather than emailed automatically.
  • Save & Resume works alongside your other survey options, such as the progress bar and multi-page layout.

Save & Resume is especially useful for detailed feedback forms, assessments, and any survey that takes more than a few minutes to complete.
