Sentiment Analysis

Sentiment Analysis reads the open-ended text your respondents write and automatically classifies each answer as positive, neutral, or negative. It turns a long list of free-form comments into an at-a-glance measure of how people feel.

Where It Works

Sentiment Analysis runs on open-ended, text-based questions such as Comments Box and Single Textbox. You’ll find it in your survey’s Analyze tab, on the individual question card for each of those questions, alongside the responses list and word cloud.

Turning It On

Because analysis runs per question, you enable it on the questions you care about.

  1. Open your survey and go to the Analyze tab
  2. Scroll to an open-ended question and open its card
  3. Switch to the Sentiment Analysis view
  4. Click to enable it for that question

When you enable it, your existing answers are queued for analysis in the background, and new answers are analyzed automatically as responses continue to arrive. Results appear on the card once processing finishes, along with the time they were last processed.

Reading the Results

Each answer is scored into one of three buckets, and the card shows how many answers fell into each:

ResultWhat it means
PositiveThe comment expresses satisfaction or approval
NeutralThe comment is factual or mixed, with no clear leaning
NegativeThe comment expresses frustration or disapproval

Use the breakdown to quickly see whether feedback skews favorable or points to problems worth digging into. The sentiment totals are also included when you export a summary report. See Export Results for more.

Availability

Sentiment Analysis is an AI-powered feature available on higher-tier plans (Professional, Team Professional, and Enterprise). On plans that don’t include it, the option won’t appear on the question card.
