Sharing & Collaborating on Surveys

SurveyMethods lets you collaborate with your team by sharing a folder of surveys and giving each teammate the right level of access. Sharing happens at the folder level, so everything you place in a shared folder is available to the people you invite.

Sharing a Folder

From your Survey Home, hover over any folder and click the share button (the Sharing settings tooltip appears). This opens the Folder sharing dialog.

  1. Turn on the Share this folder toggle. It switches from Private to Shared.
  2. Under Add team member, pick a teammate from the list.
  3. Choose their access level and click the add button.
  4. Repeat for anyone else, then click Done.

Only teammates in your account appear in the list. Once everyone has access, the picker shows a note that all members already have access.

Access Levels

Each person you add is granted one of three access levels:

LevelWhat they can do
ViewView the survey design and responses, but not make changes
EditEdit surveys and manage collectors, but not move/delete surveys or manage access
ManageEverything in Edit, plus move surveys in and out of the folder and manage folder access

The folder owner always keeps Full access and cannot be removed from the list.

Managing Access

If you can manage the folder, the People with access section lets you adjust each teammate at any time:

  • Change someone’s level using the dropdown next to their name.
  • Remove a person by clicking the delete icon beside them.
  • Turn the toggle back to Private to stop sharing entirely, which removes everyone’s access.

Who Can Share

The account owner and admins can share any folder in the account. Regular team members can share folders they own. Managing who has access requires the folder owner, an admin, or someone granted Manage access.

A shared-folder icon appears on folders that are shared, so you can tell at a glance which surveys your team can reach.
