Cancelling or Deleting an Event

Plans change. SurveyMethods lets you cancel an event (and restore it later) or delete it entirely.

Cancel an event

Cancelling marks the event as cancelled but keeps its details and registrant list. Use this when an event is called off but you may reinstate it, or you want to keep a record.

1. Open My Events and select the event.
2. Choose Cancel event.
3. Optionally send a cancellation email to let guests know.

While an event is cancelled, scheduled reminders are not sent.

Restore a cancelled event

If the event is back on, Restore it to return it to active status. You can send a restore/notification email so guests know it’s happening again.

Delete an event

Deleting removes the event from My Events. This is best for events created in error or that you no longer need to reference. Deleting is more permanent than cancelling — cancel instead if you might need the event or its attendee list again.

What happens to the survey question

The Calendar Event question stays in your survey. If you no longer want to collect RSVPs, remove the Calendar Event question from the Survey Editor.
