Events & RSVPs Overview

SurveyMethods lets you turn a survey into an event registration form. Respondents RSVP through the survey, and SurveyMethods handles capacity, waitlists, and confirmation emails automatically.

How it works

An event is attached to a survey through a Calendar Event question. When a respondent reaches that question, they see the event details (name, date, location) and choose whether they’ll attend.

  1. You create an event and add it to a survey as a Calendar Event question.
  2. You distribute the survey as usual — by email, web link, or embed.
  3. Respondents RSVP Yes, No, or Maybe.
  4. Each Yes either takes a confirmed seat or joins the waitlist if the event is full.
  5. You manage attendees and send emails and reminders from My Events.

Key concepts

  • RSVP status — Yes, No, or Maybe. Only a Yes competes for a seat.
  • Confirmed vs. waitlisted — a confirmed guest holds a seat; a waitlisted guest is queued and can be promoted when a seat opens.
  • Capacity — the number of seats. You can set a single total, or split it into groups (for example, tables or sessions).
  • Informational only — an event with no RSVP or capacity, used just to display details.

Where to manage events

Open My Events to see all your events in one place. From there you can edit an event, view registrants, send emails and reminders, and cancel or delete an event.
